London hymns for cooperation with Ankara on the occasion of the supply of Eurofighter fighters from the neighbor. Efforts to finalize Turkey’s long -term Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft are gaining ground supported by Anadolu agency, citing statements by British officials. British officials express the conviction that all four manufacturing countries – The United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain – now support the agreement.

Ankara has long expressed interest in acquiring up to 40 multi -roles fighter aircraft, produced by the consortium of the four European states. However, the agreement has been delayed due to German objections.

Britain, a leading partner in the Eurofighter program, is Turkey’s most ardent supporter.

Last week, United Kingdom Foreign Minister David Lamy said that “all four partners in the consortium support this sale”, attributing the Diplomatic Efforts to promote the dialogue.

At the end of June, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also intervened, urging “Members of the Alliance avoid preventing sales of defense equipment among the partners.”

“I encourage no restrictions on arms sales from one ally to another. This should not happen within the alliance, “Route said, in what was widely interpreted as a message to Berlin.

‘Positive atmosphere in conversations’

Kenan Polio, Britain’s Consul General in Constantinople, told Anadolu that the mood between the partners is increasingly positive.

“We are sure that all four partners want to see Turkey to receive these Eurofighters,” he said.

His comments followed the statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the NATO Summit in The Hague, referring to “positive developments” in recent talks with both Britain and Germany on the Eurofighter agreement.

Eurofighter, a multi-role aircraft with modern capabilities such as next-generation radar and improved air-to-air and air combat characteristics, would help to enhance Turkey’s air defense capacity.

‘Deeper strategic alignment’

For both London and Ankara, the sale of the Eurofighter reflects a deeper strategic alignment, the Turkish agency comments.

In the midst of growing tensions in the Middle East and the Black Sea, the United Kingdom underlined the importance of Turkey on the southeast side of NATO.

In a new government review, entitled “National Security Strategy 2025”, Britain stressed the importance and cooperation of Turkey in defense and security, saying that the country is “essential” for the UK’s security interests.

“Turkey is such a key partner for us and a key NATO ally” said the pool.

As Germany increases to finalize its position, officials in London seem to be determined to complete the deal.

“Let us continue to use these conversations and discussions,” Polio said.

“I am optimistic that all countries involved recognize the importance of receiving these typhoon by Turkey.”

The Turkish-United Kingdom trade agreement “could be jealous all over the world”

Discussions about Eurofighter are coming as Turkey and the United Kingdom are moving to boost their links in areas such as trade, defense and finances.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached 31 billion euros, according to the pool, with both sides now working on the supporting of their free trade agreement.

‘We have a very deep relationship With Turkey, one of our largest commercial partners ”, he said.

“It’s a really exciting moment,” the British official continued, noting that the first round of official negotiations on the updated deal has been completed, with both sides “truly happy” with progress.

“Both are very excited to meet again for the second round of negotiations in due time,” he added.

Although a second round is not yet scheduled, the pool said it was “very optimistic that things will move quite quickly”.

“This free trade agreement will consider areas where we believe that activity could be further enhanced,” he said. “We are looking at how we can have a modern free trade agreement that the whole world could envy.”
