The visit of Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis to Tripoli, Libya, is commented by SYRIZA MP, Rena Dourou Saying that the Minister’s wishes and vague reports confirm the dangerous foreign policy
Specifically in her announcement, Ms. Dourou states:
“With vague references to good neighborly relations and with promises on the part of his Libyan counterpart on” beginning for a good turn to bilateral relations “, Mr Gerapetritis’ visit to Tripoli constitutes – another – a confirmation of the dangerous ineffectiveness of the external policy. An external policy that, after deconstructing the decades of influence in neighboring countries since 2019, (from Albania and Libya to Northern Macedonia), now “collects” marginalization as well as failures, errors and wickedness at the expense of our sovereignty.
In particular, the challenges of Libya remain unanswered by the Greek side:
• The challenge of the verbal intercourse to the UN on the basis of illegal Turkolibyan Memorandum
• The tooling of refugee flows at the expense of Greece and the EU.
During his visit to Tripoli, Mr Gerapetritis was limited to wishes and to date Greece is far from the initiative centers for the necessary stabilization of a vital country for the interests of our country. At the same time, the government has not dared to raise the critical issues of maritime zones with Libya. All on the altar of the so -called “calm waters” with Turkey, on the orbit of which Libya now moves (Tripoli and Benghazi).
No utilization of the position of a non -permanent member at the UN SA, no initiative with Egypt, no bilateral and European initiative aimed at complying with Libya with international law: without plan and without a coherent national strategy, our foreign policy and foreigner.
