Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in Skiathos today, chairing a meeting at the Town Hall with local bodies and businessmen.

At the center of the discussion were the developmental needs of the island, the infrastructure project, and the further support of the National Marine Park of Alonissos – Northern Sporades.

Mr. Mitsotakis praised the Municipal Authority for the effective management of funding and the implementation of important projects, while referring to the need to resolve pending resolution such as the permanent ferry connection and the auction of the Marina project, which is expected to contribute to the development of an environmentally friendly tourism.

Particular reference was made to the Northern Sporades Marine Park, which is a model of marine protection and sustainable development, While the prime minister noted that the experience of the park was inspired by two new marine parks in the Ionian Sea and the South Aegean.

During his visit, Mr. Mitsotakis visited the 1st Primary School of Skiathos, where he was informed of the renovation work on the framework of the “Marietta Giannakou” program. This program includes a total of 430 schools across the country and aims to upgrade infrastructure, with particular emphasis on the accessibility and safety of students.

In addition, the prime minister visited the museum in Alexandros Papadiamantis’ father’s home, while chatting with residents and visitors to the port of Skiathos.

The Mayor of Skiathos, Theodoris Tzoumas, thanked the Prime Minister for the continued support and implementation of important projects, while highlighting the challenges they remain, such as the ferry connection and the need to complete the Master Plan Infrastructure.
