The US Treasury announced Friday the imposition of sanctions on the “Cártel de Los Soles”, which described as a gang acting in Venezuela and “heads” to the country’s president Nicolas Maduro and “executives of the regime”.
The US Treasury Audit Audit Office (ofac) said it has put the Cártel de Los Soles (“Sun Cartel”) on the black list of “world terrorist organizations”, a decision that entails freezing its resources in the US and any US or any US or any US.
“The Cártel de Los Soles is a Venezuela -based criminal organization, run by Nicolas Maduro Moros and other high -ranking (officials) of the Maduro regime (…) who provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations that threaten the US and the US Ara.the Ministry of Finance says in a press release.
“The measures taken today (yesterday) further expose the facility provided by Maduro’s illegal regime to drugs through terrorist organizations such as Cártel de Los Soles”said Finance Minister Scott Bessed.
During his first term (2017-2021), the Trump government had prosecuted Mr Maduro and his associates for “drugs” and offered a remuneration for their arrest. These accusations were denied angry by the socialist president of Venezuela.
Always, according to the US Treasury, this cartel derives its name from “the Sun emblem in high -ranking Venezuelan armed forces” and the organization “helps Tren de Aragua achieve its purpose to use the US.”
There is no evidence of the US Treasury for these allegations.
The Tren de Aragua, founded in Venezuela, is an international criminal organization engaged in blackmail, murder, substance trafficking and people trafficking in various Latin American states. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly argued that the Venezuelan state is behind this gang.
The relationship between Caracas and Washington has remained extremely tense for years. The two states have no diplomatic relations since 2019, when the US and many of their allies have questioned Mr Maduro’s re -election. Washington imposed sanctions and embargo on the country’s oil.
