“We must be ready and strong in the next parliamentary elections for us to impose the rules of a major political change,” said PASOK – Movement for Change president Nikos Androulakis, speaking tonight at a political event held at a central hotel in Patras. In fact, addressing the Prime Minister and the leader of the official opposition, he stated characteristically:
«I hear in the last hours and days that we have become regulators. No, Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras, we became protagonists, we did not become regulators. You will see it on the first Sunday of the simple proportional, that the democratic faction will be mandated to form a government of social democracy, with a program for all Greeks, a program that can overthrow the status quo and everything that holds the country back.».
At the same time, Nikos Androulakis pointed out that “with unity, renewal and political autonomy, together we will be winners in the parliamentary elections that will take place” and addressing those gathered, he noted:
“Together, rest assured, that we will do PASOK and the democratic faction, with the renewal left and the ecology movements, protagonists and not regulators, as Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis want. And I say here tonight from Achaia, that these deeply failed prime ministers should not expect a lifeline from PASOK and the democratic faction. Mr. Tsipras and Mr. Mitsotakis deceived the Greek people. Mr. Tsipras said that we will tear up the memoranda and it ‘rains’ worse fiscal policies and superfunds and Mr. Mitsotakis makes a policy of the few and the company of the supposedly staff state – chaos of Maximos. We have only one goal. “Instead of giving a life preserver to them, let us give hope to the Greek woman and the Greek.”
Then, the president of PASOK – Movement for Change, accused the prime minister of “fiscal irresponsibility”, saying that “the Right does not care” and added: “Mr. Karamanlis’s party should be left, which left Greece with the largest in the world current account deficit 15.6% had taken his lessons. But he did not take them, because he did not pay the cost we paid, undertaking to face this incredible adventure for the homeland, so that the country stays within the European Union. “And because they did not take the lesson, we are still paying dearly for it.”
Regarding the issue of the pandemic, Nikos Androulakis stressed that “From the outset, we stood responsibly on the side of science and did not turn a blind eye to movements that undermined public health, as Mr. Tsipras did with his former Deputy Minister of Health – and we had a firm stance».
Referring to the government’s stance on the need to upgrade public health, he stressed: “The tool of our party since the 1980s, the NSS, which was ridiculed, has kept society afloat. We, with responsibility, have stood and stand with responsibility, both financially and politically, on this great issue. We say clearly that we must support primary health care and the NSS, because it is inconceivable that 4.5% of the Recovery Fund should go to this important and critical sector and that Italy, with far fewer problems than us, should give 11% of the Recovery Fund. in public health “.
During his speech, Nikos Androulakis referred to the war in Ukraine, saying that “we sympathize with the Ukrainian people, not only in words, since we have organized as a faction and we will send a humanitarian mission”, adding: “We stand in solidarity with a people whose own people did not experience the same solidarity at the time of the Cypriot tragedy by the great powers. Our people survived the invasion of Attila and some to do Pontius Pilate».
At this point he made a special reference to the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, stating the following: “I want to dwell a little more on the issue of the leader of the official opposition who wants to be called progressive. How would our people feel if at the time of Attila, a former prime minister of a left-wing party in Europe, put a heart with half the flag of Turkey and half the flag of Greece? Unfortunately, Mr. Tsipras has not made up his mind and continues to make the same mistakes. “The greatest virtue in a time of crisis is responsibility and accountability.”
Elsewhere in his speech, Nikos Androulakis referred to the issues of Education and announced that during today’s meeting with the Rector of the University of Patras, Christos Bouras, he informed him that the regional conference to be held in May in Western Greece, will be about education.
Speaking about the course of the party, he said that “the only investment of the great faction is the unity of the people at the expense of their problems, because we have never used the tool that the purpose sanctifies the means, because our purpose is the solution of problems in a just and democratic way “.
He also said that on May 8, the elections in municipal and prefectural organizations will take place, as well as the election of the delegates, while as he added, “on the same day, the name of our party that will go down in the next parliamentary elections, will be signed with the thousands who will participate in the process “.
Nikos Androulakis also stressed that “I have a vision, Andreas Papandreou’s PASOK to become again a mass party of program, values and ethics, which will bring another political culture, where the parties will not be mechanisms of bribery and client state, but they will be collective intellectuals who will plan the future of the homeland “.
