The European Union’s plan for defense and security includes the Greek positions on the protection of Europe’s southern borders as well as the promotion of the anti-missile shield. The prime minister appeared satisfied, but insists on the need to issue a Eurobond to finance the projects.

“To also express my satisfaction because the Greek initiatives, which were presented some time ago, such as a common anti-missile shield of the European Union, seem to be gaining their own momentum and are included in the road map of the European Commission” emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis, attending the Summit.

After all, the Greek position on the equal protection of the member states, whether they are located on the eastern border with Russia, or face threats in the South, is fixed.

The Prime Minister also insists on the need to issue a Eurobond that will finance projects of common European interest.

“My argument is very simple: if defense is the supreme European public good, we need European structures and European funding to develop our defense capabilities (…) let’s use European resources to do things that we may not be able to do at national level” Mr. Mitsotakis reported to Politico.

Energy was also scheduled to be on the agenda of the Council, with the Greek Prime Minister seeking to equalize energy prices in south-eastern Europe where they are higher than in other member states.

“The European Commission has make specific commitments on how we can achieve lower energy prices as a whole in Europe, so that there are not these important differences, which work to the detriment of some member states of the European Union” he emphasized.

Also on the agenda is the issue of housing.

Interest now turned to the dinner of the leaders, on Thursday night, where in addition to the economic “menu” in the presence of the head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, and the president of the Eurogroup, Pascal Donahue, it was very likely that the “thorny” discussion about the utilization or not of the frozen Russian funds to finance Kiev would continue.
