“When you are inspired by events that grow Greece, when you are inspired by events that double Greece or stop Fascist Italy and push it all the way up into Albanian territory, then as a Greek you have the right to look to the future with well-founded optimism, confidence and self-belief”, stressed the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, during his opposition at the dinner he hosted to in his honor the Commander of the Supreme Military Command of Epirus – Macedonia, Lieutenant General Athanassios Garinis, which was also attended by the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis.

“This three-day period accumulates important memories, memories of battles that changed the fate of the place and charted a new course for Hellenism,” said Mr. Tasoulas.

He referred to the struggles during the Balkan Wars that resulted in the doubling of the area of ​​Greece and the conditions that led to the Epic of ’40 and noted: “We are today in events and memories that guide us, inspire us and make us proud. And this is not the only impressive and fascinating history. This is also a service for the present and the future, when we are inspired by such events and incidents. Because when you are inspired by events that grow Greece, when you are inspired by events that double Greece or stop fascist Italy and push it far into Albanian territory, then as a Greek you have the right to look to the future with well-founded optimism, confidence and self-confidence”.

The President of the Republic made special reference to the psyche of the Greeks in the Epic of ’40 and emphasized: “This psyche gave victory in ’40. And this psyche we have the fortune, privileged today, to visit it, feel it and why not – if necessary – imitate it”.
