Kyranakis to SKAI: Greece’s interest is energy autonomy

by

New Democracy MP Konstantinos Kyranakis referred to Greece’s investment in renewable energy sources that will lead to the country’s energy autonomy and lower electricity prices in his statements to SKAI.

“Until a few months ago, gas was a much cheaper choice than lignite. Now the price of gas has almost increased tenfold. “It is in the country’s interest to move towards energy autonomy, which is possible with more and faster investment in renewable energy sources,” he said initially. In addition, he underlined that: “Already in relation to 2019, Greece produces a much higher percentage of energy than renewables, some days it even reaches 40%, something that drops prices. As the rate of RES production increases, prices will fall. “I’m not talking about something long-term, I’m talking about something that is already happening.”

Konstantinos Kyranakis also pointed out that “there must also be a strategy for sharing solar energy production in order to have energy-independent buildings. “It could be the beginning of large public buildings or large industries. In any case, the country’s interest is energy autonomy.”

“PPC closes 2021 with losses, not profits”

In addition, he spoke of populism in the opposition’s rhetoric about PPC’s alleged super profits. “PPC, while it had about 850 million euros, of which it has already returned over 800 million euros to consumers with discounts on bills. After the calculation of taxes, PPC closes in 2021 with losses of 18.4 million euros. “So what some people were saying about PPC’s super profits was completely unfounded”, the New Democracy MP emphasized characteristically.

«PASOK and SYRIZA will work together so that New Democracy is not a government»

Konstantinos Kyranakis also referred to the possible scenarios of cooperating governments, claiming that “regardless of what you hear from the parties until the elections, the goal of SYRIZA and PASOK is to work together so that the New Democracy government falls, ignoring the mandate it will receive.” the first party. ” As the government’s goal clarified, “autonomy remains so that we can implement our commitments.”
