Criticism of the government for its “inflated” accounts electricity exercised by President of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras during his visit to Energy requlator authority (RAE).
Mr. Tsipras stressed that Greece is a champion in wholesale price of electricity“And to this day, 8 months now, no one is in a hurry to put an end to this scandal.”
After his meeting with the board of directors of RAE, he stated that the Authority indeed considers that there are excessive and skyrocketing profits, which, however, have not yet been recorded and are waiting to bring their official estimates in the near future.
“At the same time, it is interesting that the adjustment clause was neither a direction nor an order of RAE, but a unilateral commercial choice of the production and marketing companies”stressed the president of SYRIZA.
Mr Tsipras said the government had so far done everything possible to facilitate the profiteers and to keep throwing all the burden on consumers and therefore “what must finally end in order to end the consumer burden, is the government of Mr. Mitsotakis”.
The whole statement of Alexis Tsipras
“Almost 40 days have passed since the sitting of the Parliament, where the Prime Minister admitted excessive profits, that is, scandalous profits, in the wholesale price and the production of electricity, and announced the imposition of high taxes and even 90% on the super profits.
Nothing has been done for 40 days.
I visited the Energy Regulatory Authority today, in order to be informed about their assessment of the skyrocketing profits but also of the scandalous profits of the producers of electricity with natural gas. Their assessment is that there are indeed exaggerated and skyrocketing profits, which, however, have not yet been recorded and are waiting to bring their official estimates in the near future.
At the same time, it is interesting that the adjustment clause was neither a direction nor an order of RAE, but a unilateral commercial choice of the production and marketing companies.
All this, however, forms a framework, which at the end of the day burdens only the consumer. Our country is a champion in wholesale and no one until today, 8 months now, has rushed to put an end to this scandal.
Our country passes 99% of the costs to the consumer and no one to date has put an end to this distorted process in the market, which leaves no business risk to producers and throws all the burden on the consumer.
We want to hope that this horrible distortion will end soon. But to end it, there must be political will. And this is not a matter for the regulators, this is a matter for the government. A government that so far has taken care to do everything possible in order to facilitate those who make a profit and to constantly throw all the burden on consumers.
So, what must end in order for the consumer’s burden to end, is the government of Mr. Mitsotakis “.
