Itamambuca hosts second edition of free training on microplastics

by

Itamambuca beach, in Ubatuba (SP), will host for the second time a training course to monitor the occurrence of microplastic. The event takes place next weekend, on the 28th and 29th of May and is free.

The initiative takes place through a partnership between Our Blue Hands and PGA Itamambuca, Environmental Management Plan for the Itamambuca River Watershed.

Among the proposed activities are a presentation on microplastic, the impacts of plastic pollution and mapping. On the second day the class will be able to apply the taught methodologies in practice.

“The training methodology is international, which is carried out in different parts of the world. We want to understand type, size, color, the conditions of the beach. And this, over time, generates a pattern, capable of producing an indicator of beach quality”, explains Carolina Moreira de Oliveira, environmental manager and master in geosciences.

The objective of the training is to train citizens based on a scientific methodology.
