Costopoulos returned from the Maldives

by

Konstantinos Costopoulos worked in the Maldives for seven months. He went there last March with a six-month contract and with a small extension, due to the Asian Men-Women Championship, his short tenure ended last week.

Anyway, he had to return to Greece to renew his passport and he remains in contact with the sport federation in the Maldives with the prospect of making a new deal for a few months. He left, after all, completely satisfied agents and athletes.

Costopoulos, who marked the first job of a Greek table tennis coach abroad, had taken on young athletes in order to help them, albeit a little based on the short period of time, in their development.

Competitively, the main goal was a youth championship between surrounding countries, something like the Commonwealth Games to be hosted by the Maldives in August. The event has been postponed due to the coronavirus, it is postponed to February 2022 and for this reason there is the thought of a new contract with the physical education teacher and former international athlete.

“I had to return for the passport, which expires in early January. I will complete the process, inform the federation in the Maldives and then I will wait for their proposal for new cooperation and what it will say. Something that made me happy, however, is when I learned that the children went to the Minister of Sports and asked me to return to the country and be with them again.

Everyone was happy with our cooperation and the federation and the athletes and they also liked the calm that was in the department. We did something good, I believe, the athletes quickly showed some quality development, we also had a good face in the Asian championship with eight athletes “, stressed Costopoulos.
