Jurgen Klopp said James Milner was “happy” to stay at Liverpool after the summer after the midfielder extended his contract at Anfield by one year.

Milner, 37, first joined Liverpool in 2015 and was one of three first-team players before Klopp arrived, including captain Jordan Henderson and striker Roberto Firmino. ..

The former England player is the fourth highest-paid player in Premier League history, winning the league title once every seven years at Liverpool, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Club World Cup FIFA and the Association Cup. And the Carabao Cup. far.

His contract expired on June 30, but he is currently at Liverpool headquarters for at least 12 months.

“I am very happy to be back next season,” Milner told Liverpoolfc.com. “I have never played or thought about this club.

“The most important feeling for me, and essential in this process, was the belief that I could still contribute to the team. Gafer clearly knew what I was thinking, which extended my contract. It was a great factor to do.”

“It’s not easy to give up as long as I can do my part. We look forward to your visit because we have a full lineup. This should be part of that. It’s a great locker room.”

For Klopp, Milner’s combination of leadership skills and technical quality meant he was keen to have former Manchester City and Leeds United players in the squad for next season.

“I am happy with the news. It is important for us, for all of us,” Crop told Liverpoolfc.com.

“A lot has often been made about James’ leadership abilities and his influence in the locker room. Of course it’s rightly justified, but his quality on the pitch shouldn’t be missed. Hmm.

“His professionalism is groundbreaking for any athlete, and that is why he has tuned the team with his skills and attitudes.”
