Petr Čech said he was “live on the phone” as Chelsea strengthen Thomas Tuchel’s side at Stamford Bridge and compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boyle, is willing to spend some 200m on a new signing this summer in the Barcelona-linked blues Ousmane Dembele, Sevilla’s Jules Koundé and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
Chelsea won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup last season but was unable to play local rivals Manchester City or Liverpool and failed to defend the Champions League crown.
At a minimum, Tuhel wants to replace Real Madrid’s new signing Antonio Rudiger and striker.
The Czechs are expecting a “busy summer” at Stamford Bridge, insisting the club be active in the transfer market and make the team “as strong as possible”.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper and current manager said: It’s going to be a busy summer. We will plan, prepare and strive to be as strong as possible next season.
“Everyone knows where they are in the team. Of course, we strive to make the team stronger.
“We want to do everything we can to prepare for the next season. It will be a difficult season for the World Cup and we have to prepare.”
Regarding the 2021-22 season, the Czech Republic added: “I won two major titles and lost two finals because of a penalty. It was a shame.
“It is true that I lost points last season in November and December when I was trying to fight against Covid. There was a difference in my opinion.
We want to avoid this and constantly challenge everyone next season.
The Czechs, who won four Premier League and Champions League titles at Chelsea, not only led the club to many titles but also praised Tuუხel for their recent turmoil.
“He did a great job and handled the whole situation well last season and led the team to success,” the Czechs said. “I hope it stays that way.”
