The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and Tite this Friday (29) repudiated the behavior of Matheus Bachi, 32, assistant of the Brazilian team and son of the coach, on social networks.
The professional liked a series of posts on Instagram with content against the feminist and LGBTQIA+ movements, as well as criticisms of the professional press. The coach’s son even interacted with posts by Maurício Souza, a volleyball player who had his contract with Minas Tênis Clube terminated for publishing homophobic posts — until 1:15 pm this Friday, the athlete has 1.3 million followers. Before the controversy made the news, the center had just over 500,000 accounts in support.
Another post liked by Matheus Bachi is the news of the acquittal of a man accused of raping the influencer Mariana Ferrer, in Santa Catarina. The image caption has the following phrase: “She went back and got cock again”. Other posts liked by the assistant bring content against social isolation, support for weapons and defending the closure of the Supreme Court, which is unconstitutional.
To the newspaper O Globo, the CBF stated that “it became aware of the facts and spoke directly with the aforementioned official, who acknowledged his mistake in liking the post, as he does not share such an opinion”.
“The Confederation reinforces its commitment to football free from any prejudice or discrimination,” he said in another section of the statement.
Wanted by sheet, the entity did not answer the questions until the publication of this text.
This Friday (29), during the call-up of the Brazilian team for the duels against Colombia and Argentina, on November 11 and 16, for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Tite was asked about his son’s behavior. He expressed support for the CBF’s position.
“All prejudice should not exist. We are in the process of equality, color, race, gender. Anyone who can look at what was expressed by the entity in the sequence can have a complement on top of the question,” said the coach.
Juninho Paulista, selection coordinator, also spoke on the subject and reinforced the entity’s statement. “The CBF released a statement yesterday and it portrays well what we think. It says: ‘everyone is equal’. And it really is what we think. CBF has been campaigning for more than a decade in relation to this, he defends the solidarity sport, then, colors, origins, beliefs, genders, or physical conditions… it doesn’t have to exist. It’s the way we think,” he said.
It is worth remembering that one of the reasons that led to the resignation of Maurício Souza from Minas Tênis Clube was pressure from sponsors, including Fiat, which also sponsors the team. In a note on the case of the volleyball player, the automaker rejected “any expression of a homophobic nature, considering the manifestations motivated by prejudice to be unacceptable”.
