Michael Vaughn warned Australia that England would “stand tall” with them in the Ash series next summer after Ben Stokes’ side claimed a spectacular victory over New Zealand.

On the final day of their second Test at Trentbridge, England chased 299 from 50 overs, defeating New Zealand with five wickets and taking an unassailable lead in a three-game series 2-0.

This was also a thrilling and impressive win for Brandon McCullough’s team who made it to 277 last week with World Test Champion New Zealand in the main opening week.

Bourne says England’s rapid progress under McCallum is good for the team as they have established themselves as one of the best Test teams in the world and are looking to pick up the ashes next summer.

“It sends a message to the entire cricketing world. English testers should be scared and will be taking on Australia head on next summer,” Bourne wrote in The Daily Telegraph.

Timid England, fearful of failure, lost just two Test matches under the new regime.

“This team is in the early stages but after eight days of testing cricket we know the combination of Brandon McCallum and Ben Stokes have removed the shackles.

“It’s pretty much the same team, but they got fired and it completely changed their psychology.”

England defeated New Zealand like a lord, but the prospect of victory in Nottingham looked dim after losing 553 in the first innings and choosing the first cup.

The glorious 190th century of Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell helped New Zealand dominate the test, but Great Britain managed almost even with hundreds of Joe Ruth and Ollie Pop.

New Zealand lost some cheap wickets in three innings, but Mitchell 50, Will Young and Devon Conway confirmed that England needed to chase 299 out of 72. This was a tall order.

As a result of Johnny Bainesu’s incredible century and the contributions of Stokes and Alex Lee, England kept Stokes in their ashes in 2019 and raced to a wonderful World Cup victory.

“I really can’t respect that,” Stokes said. “Throughout the five days, the guys were amazing with sticks, balls and fields.

“I think today was the perfect day to move forward into the future. We do not want to step back and stop.

“Today is amazing, I can’t believe it. I don’t know what to do. Not just today, but about four days ago. The work ethic everyone had so far was wonderful.”

“You won’t win in a day. The way we fight on board 500 years later. Amazing, amazing test match. Great test of everyone’s personality and patience.”

He ruins Headingley and ruins the finals of the Lord and the World Cup. She couldn’t believe it. ‘

British hero Bayrstow added: “Look at the crowd that turned up at Trent Bridge on day five of the Test match – 13,000. People sometimes read Test cricket and read how to play it over a period of time.

However, the first entry scored over 500 and the last entry scored over 300. If this isn’t a test cricket ad, I don’t know what is.

I’m glad there are so many people on the fifth day. It was full of talk, everything you want in test cricket. It was very new and wonderful. “

England will be able to complete the cleanup at the third and final Test at Headingley next week.
