The strong movement of its polo section was formalized AEK by Costa Kokkinaki! The “Union” announced the beginning of its cooperation with the experienced defender, who will also take on a role in the organization of its Academy (in the Southern Sector).
At the same time, the “biceps” announced the renewal of their contracts Nikos Stellatou and Nikola Vukcevic.
The announcement for Kokkinakis:
«AEK is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Kostas Kokkinakis. The 46-year-old (09/10/1975) defender, 1.93 m tall, joins the staff of the men’s polo team of the Association, while at the same time undertakes the organization of the Water Polo Academy of the Southern Sector.
Costas Kokkinakis is one of the top water polo players that our country has ever promoted and to this day he is one of the top defenders of A1. He has won 1 Championship and 2 Greek Cups, while he played for years in the National Team of Greece, participating in 2 Olympics.
In the part of the Academies, he will have under his supervision the areas of Glyfada, Argyroupoli-Elliniko, Alimo, Voula, Vari, with the aim of optimizing the learning of the secrets of the sport to our young athletes.
Costa, welcome to the AEK family! ”
The announcement about Stellatos:
«AEK is pleased to announce the renewal of its cooperation with Nikos Stellatos. The 43-year-old (17/06/1979) regional, 1.83 m tall, signed a new one-year contract remaining in the staff of the men’s polo team of the Association.
The great leader of our team will thus complete 4 years with the “yellow and black” cap, having written brilliant pages in the history of AEK, contributing both to the two consecutive appearances in the F4 of the Greek Cup, and to the establishment of the team in the first places and participation in European competitions. At the same time, he is thus the longest-serving athlete in the history of the department.
After the formalization of the agreement, Nikos Stellatos stated to aek.gr: ” As an athlete, I did not want to change clubs, easily and often. I am happy to remain in the AEK water polo team for the new season. We are heading to the 4 consecutive years of cooperation and despite the short history of the department, we have experienced beautiful moments, such as our rise from A2 to A1 as champions, but also our participation in a Greek Cup final. And of course our first participation in the European club event (Len trophy), last year. In all the above moments I mention, I was present, something that is an honor for any athlete. I chose to stay this year as well because this season will be difficult and a new starting point for us. I am optimistic that everything will go well. “People should support the department and know that it takes a lot of effort, patience and perseverance so that one day the water polo department of AEK can be proportionally equal to the size of the world and the history of the club”.
Nikos, good luck and the new season! ”
The announcement about Vukcevic:
«AEK is pleased to announce the renewal of its cooperation with Nikola Vukcevic. The 36-year-old (14/11/1985) Montenegrin full-back, 2.02 m tall, signed a new one-year contract and will remain in the staff of the men’s polo team of the Association.
Nikola Vukcevic will thus complete three years with the “yellow and black” cap, being the longest-serving foreign athlete in the history of the team.
Nikola, good luck and the new season! “
