BBC duos John McEnroe and Sue Barker have been accused of helping Boris Becker, who was sentenced to life in prison at Wimbledon 2022.
Three-time Wimbledon champion Becker was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison earlier this year after failing to declare two assets worth $2.5m to avoid debt repayment.
A 54-year-old German, who was a regular before BBC Championship coverage before he was sentenced, was allowed to watch the 2022 tournament from his cell.
Becker was held at HMP Huntercom, a category C men’s prison near Newfield, Oxfordshire, until his deportation is expected in early 2023.
“Boris, we love you,” McEnroe said Monday. “I miss you, man,” added Barker, “we really do.”
A Twitter user wrote:Pay the bill to buy [a] license rights [and] He avoids us and paints his face. “
Let’s stop mentioning presenter Boris Becker. We pay taxes to buy the license fee, it’s in our best interest to avoid it

This is not the first time McEnroe has helped Becker, and last week he revealed that he would find him in jail.
“Boris is my friend,” he said. “He’s just terrible. If you want to meet her and meet people if you can.”
“I just feel terrible. I know he was one of the best players I’ve ever played in the game and it made a lot of sense for Boris. He’s been a lot for a long time. I’ve been suffering.”
Six-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, who coached Becker from 2013 to 2016, also recently expressed his support.
“We have had a very good relationship throughout my career. I talked to his son Noah, asked him if he could do something. I’m sorry, he’s healthy. I hope he is strong.”
Djokovic, who won the men’s singles title in 2021, won four sets against Kwon Soon Woo yesterday, setting up a close match with Tanas Kokinaki in the second round.
