The Panhellenic Weightlifting Championships for Men – Women, Young Men – Young Women that are being held in Loutraki started in an impressive way. On the first day, the Women competed and proved that there is a rich talent that can bring many international successes. A total of 12 new Panhellenic records were set by Sofia Georgopoulou, Eleni Tzatzolari and Maria Kardara.
Apart from the great performance, Eleni Kourtelidou won the prolonged applause with her value. The Greek champion for many years, who has worthily represented Greece abroad, decided to hang up her shoes and complete a great career. Kourtelidou combined her last match with a match with another Panhellenic title.
The champion club in Women was Panathinaikos, in the second place Spartakos Ioannina and in the third “Ev agonizesthai”.
In the Young Women, Panathinaikos won, followed by: Arkadi and Philathlitikos.
In the Panhellenic championship, a minute of silence was observed in the memory of two Weightlifting people who left early. The coach Alexandros Aivazidis and the athlete George Rizos.
