Jasprit Bumrah set a trial world record after defeating 35 races in one over Edgbaston’s Stuart Broad.

The Indian captain has made a command post crease alongside him for centuries since middle batsmen Rishab Pants and Ravindra Jadeya.

But England are No. 11 When Mohammad Shiraji entered the fold, when they were at 375-9, they were confident of keeping tourist numbers below 400.

But when the running back pushed England’s Seam Bowler over the edge with a series of unorthodox hooks and shots, Brody’s tactic of peppering Bumura with the pitcher’s ferocious drive backfired brilliantly.

Bumura’s teammates could hardly believe their eyes. Virat Kohli was smiling in the locker room as his partner collapsed after an elegant pirouette.

Despite the complete stamping of a wide dive, Over ended in chaotic fashion when Bumura blasted a quick single at Syrage’s target.

Bumura’s extraordinary efforts defeated James Anderson’s feat of 28 runs when George Bailey beat James Anderson 2-6 in Perth in 2013.

Meanwhile, Brian Lara broke Robin Peterson’s mark of 28 runs in 2003.

The Indian innings only ended when Syrage Anderson parried Broad midway through, but the damage was solid as the Tourists broke 78 runs from nearly 12 overs the next morning and finished at 416…

And while Bumura’s miraculous strike warranted the applause, former English spinner Phil Tuffnell remained confused by Brody’s approach.

“England must change the way they fight here,” he told the BBC.

“They have to be careful. It’s okay to go out there and be positive, but it’s very easy to find yourself behind the game.”
