The unveiling of the bust of Hero Colonel (Infantry) Konstantinos Kokkas were made by the Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikos Hardalia and the daughter of the late Eleni Kokka, in the context of a memorial event organized by the 1st Infantry Division. The bust was placed in a space within the Leptokarya Health Loss Replacement Center (HARC), which was recently renamed the “COLONEL (PZ) KONSTANTINOU KOKKA” camp.
Colonel Constantinos Kokkas, as Platoon Commander of the 6th Company of the Greek Cypriot Force, fell for faith and country in the war operations of 1974, in the area of ​​the village of “KIONELI”, in Cyprus, defending the sovereignty of the mega-island during the Turkish invasion, a statement points out of the Ministry of National Defense.
The event of honor and memory was attended by relatives of the fallen Hero, the MPs of Pieria Xenophon Baraliakos, Anna Mani-Papadimitriou, Savvas Chionidis and Elissavet Skoufa, the deputy governor of Pieria Municipality Sofia Mavridou, the mayors of Dion-Olympus Evangelos Geroliolios and Nikolaou Skoufa Rozina Vavetsi, the commander of the I Infantry Division, Lt. Gen. Paris Kapravelos and Lt. Gen. e.a. honorary commander of the I MP Savvas Kolokouri.
