Palmeiras won this Saturday (27), at the Centenário stadium, in Montevideo, their third Copa Libertadores title in history by beating Flamengo by 2-1, goals from Raphael Veiga and Deyverson – Gabigol scored for the cariocas.
With the conquest in Uruguay, which adds to the titles of 1999 and 2020, the club alviverde joins São Paulo, Santos and Grêmio in the group of Brazilians who have added the most cups in the continental tournament. Flamengo follows with two achievements.
In addition to the title, Palmeiras recorded a rare feat in this century: lifting the trophy in two consecutive editions. The last team that had been two-time champions in a row was Boca Juniors (ARG) in 2000 and 2001. Among the Brazilians, the last had been São Paulo de Telê Santana, in 1992 and 1993.
