Ajax is aiming to spark a new bidding war by refusing to open Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez.
The Red Devils made a formal offer to the versatile 24-year-old defender on Saturday, but according to the Defender, the Dutch giant is ready to retire.
United are said to have offered €41m and an additional €4m bonus, while Ajax is refraining from €50m.
Arsenal, meanwhile, remain interested in players, with three offers already rejected with the latest offer of €35m and €5m for add-ons being somewhat below Ajax’s valuation.
Mikel Arteta wants Martinez to sign Gabriel Magalhaes and Kieran Tierney, who missed last season with a serious knee injury.
However, Martinez is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford. At Old Trafford he clashes with former manager Erik Ten Hag.
