Rafael Nadal defeats American Taylor Fritz 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 7-6 (10-4) to reach the Wimbledon semifinals and makes a spectacular comeback on the surface of 2022. He lived on his hope of win the blow

Second-seeded Nadal will meet Nick Kyrgios in the blockbuster semi-finals with the aim of adding the Wimbledon title to this year’s French Open and Australian Open victories.

The 36-year-old Spaniard returned home after overcoming an abdominal injury in the second set and leaving the room for treatment.

Nadaru, a 22-time Grand Slam champion and two-time Wimbledon winner, is the last four to defeat Fritz, Botic van der Zandshrup, Lorenzo Sonego, Ricarda Sberankis and Francisco Serundro.

If he wins the Wimbledon title, Nadal will also win the 2022 Grand Slam, making him only the second player in the three-time open era since the great Bjorn Borg.

Fritz was impressed with his first trip to the Grand Slam quarterfinals, but after seeing a very strong position, he has to deal with a painful defeat.

Asked how he scored a notable victory despite his injury, Nadaru told the BBC: To be honest, I enjoy playing games like this in front of you. We cannot thank you for all your support.

“Hard afternoon with a great player. Thanks to Taylor, he plays well all season.

“Personally, it was not an easy match. I am very happy to have reached the semi-finals.”
