A three-day sports celebration, on the occasion of Olympic Day, is organized at the National Coastal Sports Facilities in Karteros, Heraklion, from tomorrow, Friday, July 15, until Sunday, July 17.
Young and old will be introduced to dozens of sports, popular and not, will combine sports with social contribution, volunteering and solidarity and will get to know great Cretan athletes up close.
A. The events begin on Friday July 15 with “Volunteering, Solidarity and Social Contribution”, the basic Principles of the Olympic Ideal, but also a common value code of sports and society.
From 6 pm to 9 pm, at the Karteros Beach Sports Center, 29 Social Structures of active citizens and organizations of Heraklion and all of Crete will present their actions, mobilize the public to participate, raise awareness of volunteering and highlighting solidarity as the supreme good of Equality, Justice and Inclusion.

C. The celebratory three days will culminate on Sunday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. with the central event “From dream to achievement”, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Sports Lefteris Avgenakis, the president of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Kapralos, the president of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, Giorgos Kapellakis, as well as the president of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Morning Star.
An evening with dozens of great Cretan athletes, full of memories from them. They will share their experience from the dream they had to stand out to the feat they achieved, in an event dedicated to all the protagonists – fighters of life who persevere, fight and achieve their own small or big feats.
