CIES: Asteras has the best release in the Super League – At number 50 worldwide!

O Asteras Tripolis is the team with best ball movement in the Greek Super League, while holding the 50th place among 654 teams from 40 championships worldwide.

This is stated in his latest study CIES, of the International Center for Sport Studies located in Switzerland and established in 1995 as a joint venture of FIFA with the University of Nostal, which ranks the teams from these 40 leagues, in terms of the number of passes attempted per game and its average their distance. The multiplication of these two variables shows the ball movement distance for the teams during the occupation.

So Asteras Tripolis with 507.5 passes (in 10 matches counted) had the best traffic with an average distance of 20.4 meters, “covering” 10.4 kilometers. The worst ball movement was recorded by Apollon Smyrnis with 354 passes and a range of 7.1 kilometers.

Super League standings:

The best ball movement between the clubs from the 40 leagues is presented by Celtic with a distance of 12.8 km and the worst by the Mexicans of Atletico San Luis with 6.9 km.

At the level of the “big-5” leagues, the teams that circulate the ball the most are Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga (4th among the 654 teams analyzed), Manchester City in the Premier League (5th), Sevilla in LaLiga (6th) , Monaco in Ligue 1 (29th), as well as Fiorentina in Serie A (51st).

The lowest prices were recorded for Shakhtar Donetsk by Roberto De Jerby and Paris Saint-Germain by Mauricio Pochettino (15.7 meters distance in both cases). Three British teams are at the opposite end of the table: the Scots of Livingston (24.4 m) and Motherwell (23.2 m), as well as the English Birmingham (23.4 m).

At the top of the rankings for the four non-European leagues that took part in the survey are Flamengo in Brazil, Tiges in Mexico, Atletico Nacional in Colombia and Union La Calera in Chile.
