The huge event, organized by the Germans in Munich, with the European championships in a total of 9 sports, also includes table tennis.

Her own tournament takes place from August 13 to 21 (the dates of the entire event are 11-21/08 and the official website is at https://www.munich2022.com/en/sports), this year it is about singles competitions and Greece will be represented by 4 athletes and 3 athletes.

Yiannis Sgouropoulos, George Konstantinopoulos, Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos, George Stamatouros, Katerina Toliou, Konstantina Paridis and Elizabeth Terpou. This is also the limit of participations that our country could display. The top competition brings international athletes from this week to the training camp of the Peace and Friendship Stadium and later their preparation will also include camps abroad.

For the men’s team, the presence in Budapest as part of hosting by the Hungarian federation has been closed. In view of Munich, a preparation meeting is held from July 31 to August 7, and apart from the Hungarians and Greeks, the Finnish champions Benedek Olach and Alex Naomi will be present. The men’s national coach Kostas Vatsaklis will have the four in Hungary who will compete in the European championship, namely Sgouropoulos, the Konstantinopoulos brothers and Stamatouros.

Women are also going to be at a similar event in the Czech Republic, just not all the procedures have been arranged yet. In the town of Havirov, the local association is holding a camp at its modern training center, also from July 31 to August 7, for international gymnasts from the Czech Republic and other countries, and invited Greece as well. If everything goes as normal, our participation will be confirmed, the women’s federal coach Giorgos Karytsas, apart from the team that will represent us in Munich, will have Aliki Kioufi and Malamatenia Papadimitriou in the Czech Republic.

* Panagiotis Gionis will be, as last year, in the corresponding European team championship, the big absentee from the Greek team. He is still struggling with the Achilles injury, but it is better and next month he is expected to slowly return to training. He continues the treatments, during the week he starts strengthening and after August 15th he will undergo a new MRI to see the progress of his condition.

* The head of the refereeing team in Munich will be Constantina Crotta with her vast experience from major international competitions. These days the Thessaloniki referee is in Budapest for the consecutive top level tournaments (Contender, Champions and Feeder), organized by World Tale Tennis.

* Giorgos Konstantinopoulos, one of the athletes, who were included in the mission for the European championship, as well as the also international Nikos Antoniadis, went for training in Qatar. They live a special experience in Doha following an invitation addressed to the Greek federation by Daniel Tsiokas, our former champion and current coach of the Qatari men’s national team. The strong training camp ends on July 20 and Iran’s international athletes are still participating.
