The mission of Greek shooting at the Munich World Cup was successful

Mission accomplished for the Greek shooting team at the Munich World Cup. Of the four representatives of our country in this great event, three managed to secure qualifications for the World Championship that will take place in November in the United Arab Emirates, and indeed in all the categories in which they participated. In fact, the Greek presence at the Munich World Cup was accompanied by the winning of a silver medal, the presence in a total of two finals and the breaking of two Panhellenic records, with Sotiris Galogavros as the protagonist of all of the above. The Greek champion was 2nd in the SH1 – R1 standing air rifle, with a pan-Hellenic record in the final, while he was ranked 8th in the 50m. SH1-R7 men’s three-stop shot, with a new national record in the qualifier. Overall and in view of the World Championship, Galogayros qualified in two categories, namely R6 and R7 (he had “captured” the rest from the European Championship in Norway). Panagiotis Giannoukaris and Anastasios Boutis also qualified for the top shooting appointment of 2022, in the R4 and R5 categories.

On the other hand, Anargyros Gavalas remained in Paratrap (PT3), out of bounds for the World Championship and despite the very good performance he made in his maiden appearance in an international race.

“Our presence at the World Cup in Munich is considered highly successful. If Anargyros had also qualified for the World Championship then the success rate would be 100%. He showed that he has what it takes to star in the future. It was his first appearance in a match abroad and he showed very good racing data. Galogayros, apart from the medal, was present in a total of two finals, which shows the excellent condition he is in, as well as our other two representatives in the event, Giannoukaris and Boutis. The qualifications for the World Championship show that Greek shooting is on a very good track. We have a huge event ahead of us and we have to be fully prepared. This is what we will try to do in the remaining time and I hope that our presence in the United Arab Emirates next November will bring us new distinctions and qualifications for the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024”, said the federal coach, Nikos Voudouris.
