Chelsea’s transfer plans could collapse after Barcelona complete a last-minute deal to sign Jules Conde at Sevilla, according to Spanish reports.

The two clubs are vying for a deal with France this summer, but Chelsea appear to have made a decisive move over the weekend, agreeing a price of around £55m.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta appears to be persuading the defender in a phone call from Thomas Tuchel and was filmed telling fans that Koundé will join Chelsea.

However, the Catalan club never renounced a contract with a 23-year-old player and spoke with a Sevilla teammate all night and into the morning.

According to a trusted Spanish journalist Gerard Romero on the channel Jijantes FCTwitchOn Saturday morning, Barcelona in principle reached an agreement to sign Koundé.

Sevilla did not initially think that Barcelona would be comparable to Chelsea’s £55m offer, but verbally agreed after Braugrana released another financial “lever”.

Barcelona have always felt that the French would rather move to Spotify than Stamford Bridge, but they weren’t ready to rule out a move to Chelsea, as Rafina did earlier this summer.

Chelsea had an upcoming contract with Koundé, but Barca did not give up until the documents were submitted and the contract was officially completed.

Director of football Matteo Alemany spent Friday night and Saturday morning in a fierce argument with Sevilla and believes Barca won the race to sign the centre-back.

Romero also claims that Barca winger Ousmane Dembele played a big role in encouraging his teammates to call up and switch to Spotify.

Chelsea are very confident in the Koundé deal and have agreed personal terms since first trying to sign last summer, and Tuchel is fine when he spoke to the media on Friday.

When asked about Koundé, he responded with a big smile. We’ll let you know if there’s any news about Jules Cund.

When it was suggested that Koundé was ignoring Barça, Tuchel responded again with a broad smile: “You say so, but I don’t comment on other players.”

If Barcelona landed at Chelsea, it would be a disaster for Bruce, and it would be the second time the Catalan side have failed in the transfer plan this summer.
