Olympic champion judoka shows signs of aggression and accuses coach

by

French judoka Margaux Pinot, 27, posted a photo on social media in which she appears with a very bruised face and accused her partner and coach, Alain Schmitt, of aggression.

According to the account of Pinot, a 70 kg athlete and Olympic team champion at the Tokyo Games, she was insulted, punched, had her head hit the ground several times and was strangled last weekend.

The strong image can be seen at the end of the text.

“I thought I was dead, but I managed to escape to take refuge with my neighbors, who immediately called the police. I have several injuries, including a broken nose and 10 days of temporary work stoppage,” he wrote.

Schmitt, 38, was arrested last Sunday (28), but was released by the courts, which provoked Pinot’s indignation.

“What good is the slanderous defense against my wounds and the blood smeared on my apartment floor? What was missing? Death at the end, perhaps? It was probably judo that saved me. And my thoughts are also with those who can’t tell the same.”

The judoka received messages of support from fellow French nationals, such as Teddy Riner, and also from Brazilian Rafaela Silva.

Schmitt, former judoka of the national team, also coached Madeleine Malonga, a member of the French team in Tokyo and silver medalist in the 78 kg category. He denies the assault charges.

French judo is one of the most traditional in the world and has won eight medals in Japan, second only to the host country in terms of the sport’s achievements.
