Rayssa Leal wins 2nd consecutive stage in the Skate Street League

With talent and cold blood, Rayssa Leal is increasingly dominant in street skate. This Saturday (30), she won the second stage of the SLS (Street League Skateboarding) 2021 season, which opened at the end of August, after the Tokyo Olympics.

The 13-year-old Brazilian, silver medalist at the Games, became the first skateboarder to win two consecutive stages of the main street circuit, based in the United States and which has the best athletes in the world.

With 19.2 points in Lake Havasu (Arizona), she surpassed Japanese Momiji Nishiya (18.5) and Funa Nakayama (16.1), who also formed the Olympic podium. In Tokyo, Nishiya, aged 14 (at the time he was 13), was gold, and Nakayama, 16, bronze.

Pamela Rosa, 22, was fourth in Lake Havasu, also with a total of 16.1. Gabriela Mazetto, 24, back in competition after the birth of her daughter, managed to reach sixth position. Leticia Bufoni, 28, did not advance to the final.

As had happened in the previous stage of the SLS, in Salt Lake City, Rayssa had to defeat a rival in the last maneuver. At the time, who was ahead was Nakayama, and the Brazilian scored an impressive 8.5 (highest in the competition’s history).

This time, Empress’s from Maranhão, who spent almost the entire final in first position, needed 5.7 to retake Nishiya’s lead, as the Japanese had just gotten an 8. Concentrated, she did more than she needed ( 6.3) and ran to hug her friend Leticia Bufoni while she waited for the judges’ evaluation.

Rayssa, who now has three conquests in the SLS (the first was in 2019), continues to lead the season and is already guaranteed the final of the Super Crown World Championship, as the decisive stage of the circuit is called. It will be held on November 13th and 14th in Jacksonville (Florida).

In the men’s, American Nyjah Huston won at Lake Havasu, followed by compatriot Dashawn Jordan. Brazilian Felipe Gustavo also had a great performance, with a score of 9, and took third place.
