“We dream of this national volleyball”

With a statement issued by EOPE on Monday, it congratulates the pioneers and protagonists of the qualification of the National Men’s Volleyball to the finals of the 2023 European Championship and praises the support of the Greek fans in the home matches of the representative group.

In detail, the announcement:

“President Giorgos Karabetsos and the members of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation congratulate the athletes, coaches and partners of the Men’s National Volleyball team for qualifying for the finals of the European Championship.

Greek volleyball at the level of the men’s national teams has qualified for the third consecutive time and 17th overall in the final phase of the European championship, confirming that in recent years they are firmly in the “elite” of European volleyball. We are doubly happy and satisfied, because the qualification was achieved with six wins and with quality performances at home and away, proving that hard and systematic work is done in the national team.

They also express their gratitude to the volleyball fans who responded to the call to support the national team, filling the “Makis Liugas” gym of Glyfada in all three home matches. It is the ultimate reward for athletes and their coaches and the great dynamic of the sport.

The management of EOPE feels fully justified by the choice of the Italian coaches, Dante Bonifante and Samuele Papi, who continue the work of the previous technical leadership that we started together.

The president and the members of the board promise that, despite the difficulties and problems they “inherited” from the past, they will provide solutions and serve with all their strength the men’s national team for the best possible appearance in the finals of the European Championship, the effort of the National women’s team, but also of all the National infrastructure teams.

“This is the Men’s National Team we dreamed of. Congratulations to everyone. The qualification, quality performances and full stadiums justify our choices and give us strength to continue. I am sure that the ‘footsteps’ of the Men’s National Team will also be followed by the Women’s National Team . Judging by the first writing sample and the great victory over Switzerland in Mikra on Saturday, we can be optimistic about a new and great team. Congratulations to the athletes and their great coaches,” said EOPE president George Karabetsos.
