Jürgen Klopp says new Liverpool signing Arthur Melo will not feature in Saturday’s Merseyside derby.

Arthur joined Liverpool on deadline day from Juventus but the Brazilian international has yet to be cleared to play in international competition but could make his Champions League debut against Napoli next week.

The Reds boss also revealed that midfielder Jordan Henderson will also miss the game against Everton, further destabilizing the injury-prone team.

Henderson has been ruled out of the midweek clash with Newcastle with a hamstring problem and it remains to be seen when the club captaincy will return.

“Nothing yet. To be honest, we are still waiting for the results,” the 32-year-old Klopp said.

“It was exactly 12:30 p.m. I heard before I came here [we] I have not received the results yet. He’s definitely out, he’s injured, but I don’t know to what extent.

The motivation to sign Arthur was fueled by an injury crisis in Liverpool’s midfield. Almost all the players were in that position in the treatment room and were not expected to return for a while.

“Navi Keith, Ox’s sore muscles. [Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] I have a muscle injury and I will be out for a while,” Klopp added in his pre-match press conference.

“Tiago [Alcantara] closest of all [of them]Early next week, I believe he will join the team in training.

Klopp’s experienced midfield options for the trip to Goodison Park will only be Fabinho and James Milner, but a young trio of Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones are available.

As for the offense, the coach revealed that Diogo Jota is back in contention after being sidelined over the summer after suffering a hamstring injury during preseason.

Also available this summer is Darwin Nunez, who received a three-match ban for heading Joachim Andersen in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

“Maybe Diogo will be there too. [as Nunez]Yesterday he practiced with the team for the first time. he trains today

“I have a decision to make. Does it make sense to include it already? But if it’s your first time with five strikers, it’s like Christmas!”
