The Oval Invincibles have defended their Women’s 100 title after defeating the Southern Braves by five wickets in the 2021 final replay at Lords.
The south London team advanced to Saturday’s final as leaders of the group, with Southern Brave joining the team after defeating the Trent Rockets in the tie.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Kepsy and Shavni Ismail shared four wickets, limiting the Southern Braves to just 101-7.
England’s Sophia Dunkley and Australia’s Talia McGrath were the only batters to make more than 20 while cleaning up the line when it mattered most for the Braves.
Oval Invincibles lost an early wicket in response, but Capsy hit 25 of 17 balls using a drop 2.
Capps and New Zealand international Susie Bates went down shortly after the power play, but South African star Marizan Capp closed out the inning with an unbeaten 37-for-33 with six balls left to lead her team to victory.
Oval Invincibles captain Susie Bates said: The way they handled it all season was they had four foreign players and they had to lose one every game.
“The way the Marizan Cup fought under pressure was just amazing.
‘[Kapp] One of the best players in the world, today he showed why and that he is even better under pressure. He comes out in those difficult times.
“Obviously our bowling group did a great job keeping them on that score, but they got a little nervous at the end. But we kept our nerves. Proud of the whole team,” he thinks.
The versatile Capsey adds:
The field was a bit slow and I just wanted to put the team in the best possible position. He wanted a positive option.
susie [Bates] It was beautiful and so peaceful. It was great to learn from someone like him.
