England football captain Harry Kane and champion boxer Anthony Joshua have paid a sporting tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after Britain’s longest-reigning monarch died at the age of 96.

The Queen reigned for 70 years after taking the throne in 1952.

A statement from Buckingham Palace read: “The Queen passed away peacefully this afternoon at Balmoral.

Manchester United have confirmed they will hold a minute’s silence at Old Trafford ahead of their Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
