Corinthians loses to América-MG and remains out of the G4

Corinthians lost 1-0 to América-MG on Sunday night (18), in Belo Horizonte. The goal of the match was scored by Juninho, in the second half.

With the result, Vítor Pereira’s team has 44 points, in fifth place, one point behind Flamengo, in fourth place.

América-MG was superior in the first half, keeping the ball more and finishing more. Cássio made good saves, as in the submission of Henrique Almeida, in the 43rd minute. Corinthians had their best chance in the 16th minute, in a mid-range shot by Mateus Vital defended by Matheus Cavichioli.

In the second stage, Vítor Pereira promoted the entries of Renato Augusto, Yuri Alberto, Fausto Vera and Du Queiroz, which improved the team.

Du Queiroz himself had a good chance in the 16th minute, when he finished from outside the area, but the ball deflected.

But who reached the goal was América-MG, in the 31st minute. Cáceres rose in the area and, after a deflection by Mastriani, Juninho appeared at the second post to score.

Afterwards, Corinthians kept the ball more, in search of a tie, but could not beat the Minas Gerais team’s defense.

In this final stretch of the season, the São Paulo team divides its attention between the Brazilian Championship and the final of the Copa do Brasil, to be played against Flamengo on October 12th and 19th. For the Brasileiro, the next commitment is on Wednesday (28), against Atlético-GO, at home.

América, in eighth place with 39 points, returns to the field on the same day, against Cuiabá, away from home.
