PM from SP reinforces security with 214 police officers in stadium after fans fight in MG

The Military Police says that it reinforced the security scheme for the game between Ponte Preta and Cruzeiro, on the night of this Wednesday (28), in Campinas, for Série B of the Brazilian Championship. According to the São Paulo State Secretariat for Public Security, 214 police officers will monitor the arrival and departure of fans from the Moisés Lucarelli Stadium, including agents from the 3rd Shock Battalion.

The measure was taken after 14 fans were injured, of which four were shot, in a fight between organized supporters Mancha Alvi Verde, from Palmeiras, and Máfia Azul, from Cruzeiro, on Wednesday morning, on the Fernão Dias highway, in Minas Gerais. .

Police forces fear that São Paulo fans will try to take revenge on the miners in Campinas.

A Palmeiras fan remained hospitalized in serious condition, with lung injury, in a health unit in the mining city of Divinópolis. The other injured were treated and released on Wednesday.

The Military Highway Police also reinforced policing to prevent possible clashes between fans.

The fight between the organized supporters took place at km 592 of Fernão Dias (BR-381), in the region of Carmópolis de Minas.

Arteris, responsible for the administration of the highway, said that it registered the fight between fans, around 10:30 am, heading towards Belo Horizonte.

To ensure the safety of drivers, the stretch was completely closed, with the support of the PRF, generating 3.5 km of congestion. The lane was cleared around noon, and traffic was back to normal about half an hour later, the concessionaire added.

Videos shared on social media show the president of Mancha Verde, Jorge Luis Sampaio Santos, 39, bleeding, lying on the asphalt, surrounded by Cruzeiro fans. He is apparently bewildered.

In other images, the president of the São Paulo organization appears walking with difficulty, when he is knocked down with a flying machine, launched by a man wearing clothes from the Minas Gerais organization. In the images it is possible to see members of the Blue Mafia holding sticks, iron bars and even a machete.

On social media, the Blue Mafia said that there had been an “unfortunate fact” in which it had to “act in self-defense” in order to “defend the integrity of all [torcedores]” that headed for Campinas.

The report did not locate any spokesperson for the organized supporters.
