PAE Panathinaikos sent an out-of-court settlement to the EPO, asking why the holistic study of FIFA and UEFA has not been implemented yet and why the EPO does not implement the provisions that it voted in a General Assembly in August.
It was July 2019, when the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, welcomed the executives of FIFA and UEFA to discuss what needs to change in Greek football. It takes 2 whole years for the EPO to vote, this summer, on most of the changes proposed by the international federations, after huge backstage pressure.
And yet, to date, nothing has been implemented.
One of the main changes favored by FIFA and UEFA and fought in any way the EPO can, is the independent Professional Football Committee that it will now decide, for Greek football.
“Before Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, PAOK, AEK should ask, Mr. Avgenakis should have asked, Avgenakis himself, who from the moment he entered the process to deal with the issue – he was not obliged, he should before the groups ask for answers, to ask for answers himself and get final answers, not now, for a long time. “If the federation itself decides that a Professional Football Committee should be included, it is like saying that all these factors that will decide this, that now we are removing the forces we have,” said Vaios Tsoutsikas, Director of bwinSPORT FM 94, 6.
As long as the holistic study is not applied, the EPO will devalue Greek football with its decisions, as it did with the beheading of Giorgos Dimitriou, by the Team Licensing Directorate of the EPO.
“For 15 years, Dimitriou had never leaked the financial data of the teams. He had at least this guarantee from the teams, that okay, we know that Dimitriou will not say it below.
