Greece is bidding for the 2029 Deaf Olympics

With her presentation Deaf Sports Federation the afternoon proceedings of the 3rd day of the 9th International Conference of PSAT in Ancient Olympia began. The rapporteur, Mr. Takis Kordonouris, Councilor of the Federation, conveyed on behalf of the President, Iosif Stavrakakis, the news about Greece’s participation in the claim of Deaflympics 2029.

The Deaflympics are held every 4 years, after the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They are also recognized by the Olympic Committee and are conducted under the supervision of the ICSD.

THE EOAK was founded in 1988 and is a member of ICSD (International Committee of Sports for the Deaf) and EDSO (European Deaf Sports Organization).

EOAK counts nine unions – members, has 1,200 active athleteswhile in total there are around 5,000 deaf / hard of hearing people nationwide.

It is worth noting that Greece had a notable presence in 24th Deaflympics of Brazil in May 2022, counting 9 medals. The next date is in Tokyo in 2025.
