For the first time in history, the Men’s Soccer World Cup will be held in the Middle East. Qatar will host, from November 20th to December 18th, the 32 teams that are going in search of the title.

The country spent US$200 billion (more than R$1 trillion at current rates) on infrastructure in an effort to ensure the project’s success. Eight stadiums, seven of which are air-conditioned, were built or renovated, along with a new metro system and international airport.

The 32 teams are divided into groups of four. The teams face each other once within the group, and the two best classified advance to the round of 16. From there, it’s a single-game elimination round. If there is a tie, it goes to extra time and penalties.
