The president of BTTU, Mirsad Pajevic, the general secretary, Milorad Trpkovski, and the marketing manager of the Union, Dusan Stevanovic, accompanied by the president of EFOEPA, Kostas Papageorgiou, supervised on Tuesday the indoor gym “Nikos Samaras”, where the matches of the Balkan Junior Table Tennis Championship, 21-25 June 2023, and the other facilities that will be used for the major event.

The contacts took place in an excellent atmosphere, while the president of Filia Orestiada, Solon Mavridis, was also present, while the delegation also visited the Mayor of Orestiada, Vassilis Mavridis.

Most importantly, the BTTU representatives were delighted with the facilities. They emphasized, in fact, that the upcoming Balkan Youth Championship also takes on a historical dimension, because it is taking place on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Union, for which Greece took the lead with the first Balkan Conference being held in Athens in July 1963.

Tuesday in Orestiada was dedicated to contacts with the BTTU delegation, while Kostas Papageorgiou found the opportunity to visit the training of the local Filia club. Throughout the talks and inspections, the president of the local GS Filia, Solon Mavridis, was also present, without whose actions and meaning the nomination would not have even been submitted.

The three top officials of the Balkan Union saw the hall and the ancillary areas of the large gymnasium, while they also inspected the rest of the facilities that will be used next summer. They also met at Orestiada Town Hall, where the Mayor, Vassilis Mavridis, warmly welcomed the people of BTTU and EFOEPA and promised that the Municipality will support the Balkan Youth Championship with all its might.

The discussions were concluded in a very good atmosphere, the delegation expressed its enthusiasm for the gym and the other areas, while Kostas Papageorgiou was equally pleased, who, after all, had experienced “Nikos Samaras” in match conditions last spring in the Panhellenic Boys-Girls Championship.

The president of BTTU, Mirsad Pajevic, and the rest of the executives emphasized the importance of holding the Balkan Championship in Greece on the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Union. They emphasized how important it is to return the historical matches to the country, which played a leading role in the creation of the BTTU and, after coordinating contacts with the federations of other Balkan countries, organized the founding Balkan Congress on July 13-14, 1963 in Athens.

Now, the Greek federation and the Balkan Union will proceed to draw up the documents with all the details discussed in Orestiada, so that the contract between the two sides can then be signed.

During a break in the debates, the president of EFOEPA visited the local GS Filia, he met with the president. Solonas Mavridis, and the coach, Giorgi Daskalov, saw the athletes in their training and was photographed with them.
