The two top Greek table tennis associations, who are projected as main favorites for the title in the 2022-2023 season as well, had been postponed for their meetings in the first competitive games of the championship (1-2/10), because foreign athletes on their roster they had participated in the World Team Championship, but from Friday they begin their obligations.
The men’s A1 program will be three days long. On the day of the national anniversary, two postponed matches of Olympiakos and Panathinaikos will be played in the SEF federal hall, while on the weekend of 29 and 30/10 the fourth, fifth and sixth matches will be shared almost at the Faliri stadium and in Patras (six teams will be in one place and four in the other).
Of the major inter-club divisions, this weekend also includes the start of the A1 women’s division and the A2 men’s division, as well as the continuation of the A2 women’s division.
In men’s A1, the champion Olympiacos will play a total of five matches over the three days. They will all be in Athens and both of them have been postponed (with Kavala and Chania). The runner-up of Greece, Panathinaikos, will face on Friday at the SEF, in a match that had been postponed, the third of last year’s competition, Pera Athens, but for the weekend games it will be in Patras. The games of the Achaean capital will take place in the indoor gymnasium of Panagia Alexiotissa.
Pera Athens, Rethymnon, AEK and Tataula are leading in the standings after two games. They have started with wins and have 4 points each.
