Pedro celebrates invitation with marriage proposal

The striker Pedro, 25, from Flamengo, took advantage of the party for his invitation to the World Cup in Qatar to ask his girlfriend, the psychologist Fernanda Nogueira, to marry him.

As soon as coach Tite announced his name, this Monday (7), at the headquarters of the CBF, in Rio, the player surprised his wife. “I believe that this was a day set apart by God,” she told the Fla TV channel, the official of the Rio club. “I didn’t expect it, I don’t even know what to say,” she added.

“The surprise was to mark this day. It’s a special day. So I made this day even more special, on the day of a call-up for the Cup, a dream I’ve realized since I was a child. And [Fernanda] she has helped me a lot to become a man of God and a great professional”, said the player.

The attacker got his spot practically in the final stretch of the cycle. He entered the call-up for the team’s last friendlies and won the trust of coach Tite.

This is only Pedro’s fourth call-up to the senior team. In the first, he was cut by injury. In the second, he had only 22 minutes. In the third, he entered the field for 45 minutes and left his mark in the 5-1 rout of Tunisia in the last game of the Canarinho team before the World Cup.

The national team coach will take three athletes who work in Brazilian football to Qatar, as goalkeeper Weverton, from Palmeiras, is also on the captain’s list.

For the coach, the fact that 23 of the 26 called up for the World Cup work outside Brazil “refers to a structural aspect of football in general.” And he adds that “we need to be careful with these cuts. Of the athletes who are here, which ones are born in how many regions of Brazil? Which club did you come from and where were you from? There are a number of cuts that we can take.”
