Manchester United Covid-19 Outbreak Postpones Premier League Game

by

The duel between Manchester United and Brentford, which would take place this Tuesday (14), for the Premier League, had to be postponed due to an outbreak of Covid-19 at the Manchester club.

Players and members of the technical committee were infected with the virus (the club did not say how many or who), which forced the postponement of the match, valid for the 17th round of the league.

Also according to United, employees who contracted Covid-19 were isolated and the Carrington training center would be closed for 24 hours to minimize the risk of new infections.

In the past week, a total of 42 athletes and officials from various Premier League teams have tested positive for the virus, a number that has lit the league’s alert. This year, in a span of seven days, the maximum number of cases had been 40, registered in a week of January.

Aston Villa, Brighton, Leicester, Manchester United, Norwich and Tottenham were the clubs affected by cases of infection in the last round of tests.

In addition to the clash between Manchester United and Brentford, the duel between Brighton and Tottenham, which should have been played last Sunday (12), also had to be postponed due to cases of Covid-19 in the two teams.
