Left-back Yasser Al-Sharani, from the Saudi Arabia national team, underwent a new surgery on his face this Sunday (27). He suffered fractures after a collision with goalkeeper Al-Owais, in the 2-1 victory over Argentina, in the debut of the Saudi national team in the World Cup in Qatar, on Tuesday (22).
The information was disclosed by the selection of Saudi Arabia, in a statement on social networks.
“The player underwent the second stage of surgical intervention this afternoon and underwent oral and maxillofacial orthopedic surgery, performed by the competent medical team of the King Abdulaziz Medical City hospital, of the Riyadh National Guard. He also underwent evaluation with the national team’s medical team”, says the communiqué.
Al-Sharani had already undergone surgery on Wednesday (23), in an intervention on the pancreas.
The player was injured in the second half additions. In the dispute for the ball, he ended up taking a knee from goalkeeper Al-Owais, fell unconscious and had to leave the field on a stretcher.
