If Neymar participates in the selection training scheduled for 12:00 (Brasília time) this Sunday (4), he will play against South Korea, for the round of 16 of the World Cup. The match is scheduled for this Monday (5), at 4 pm (Brasília time).

Tite confirmed that the presence of the striker and main Brazilian player on the pitch is likely.

“He will train this afternoon. If he trains this afternoon, he will go to the game. That will depend on a specific job”, explained the coach.

Neymar suffered a right ankle injury on his debut against Serbia. He went into intensive care afterwards and missed out on victory over Switzerland and loss to Cameroon.

The medical department’s expectation was that Neymar would actually return in the round of 16, but as the days went by, the fear arose that this would not happen. According to Tite, if he is released, the attacker will not be on the bench to enter during the second half. He will be in charge.

“I prefer to use my best from the beginning and the coach has to assume his responsibility. I prefer it that way”, completed the coach.

The match against the Koreans, as it is an elimination round, can go to extra time, in case of a tie, and the penalty shootout.

Neymar is the most worrying case on the list of injuries suffered by players in the Brazilian national team since the start of the World Cup. Danilo also suffered an ankle injury against the Serbs and was out of action. Alex Sandro, with a muscle problem in his left leg, left during the confrontation with the Swiss, he did not face Cameroon.

Tite confirmed Danilo’s return to the right wing, but Alex Sandro remains vetoed.

Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles, with knee injuries, will no longer play in this World Cup.
