The Croatian coach, Zlatko Dalic, acknowledged Argentina’s superiority in his team’s 3-0 defeat, this Tuesday (13th), in the semifinals of the World Cup in Qatar, and congratulated his rival.
“I congratulate Argentina for the victory. We have to raise our heads. I can’t blame the boys for anything. Now we have to fight for third place. They deserved the victory”, he said.
“We have nothing to complain about. We have to prepare for third place. We created good chances, but we didn’t succeed. We prepared everything, but we lacked a real and genuine striker”, added the coach.
“We lost the game and I have no objections in relation to the boys. They gave themselves and gave their best during this tournament. We have to prepare for the last game that awaits us”, he concluded, already with his head in the race for third place.
Midfielder Modric left the game, criticizing the Italian referee Danielo Orsato a lot. For the Croatian, there was no penalty in the bid that led to the first Argentine goal.
“We were fine until the penalty, which for me it wasn’t. I don’t usually talk about refereeing, but today it’s impossible not to. He’s one of the worst referees I’ve ever seen, and I’m not just talking about today. It’s a disaster. Despite that, congratulations to Argentina, they deserved to qualify”, said the midfielder.
“We are disappointed, we wanted the final. Now it’s time to recover and go after third place”, he added.
