Kylian Mbappé, one of the stars of the Cup decision in Qatar, has a great advantage in the duels he has played so far with the other biggest star of this Sunday’s decision (18) at the Lusail stadium, Lionel Messi.

According to Fifa, the 23-year-old Frenchman and the 35-year-old Argentine have met in three matches, two for their clubs and one for the selections of their respective countries.

In these matches, the number 10 of France accumulated six goals (average of two per game), while the number 10 of Argentina scored two (average of 0.67).

Messi didn’t manage to leave the field the winner in any of those games, in which Mbappé always scored: a draw and two wins for the Frenchman.

The first meeting took place in the round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In an exciting game, France won 4-3, and Mbappé was decisive, scoring the third and fourth goals for the Blues (Blues) and eliminating Messi.

The other two clashes took place in the round of 16 of the Champions League 2020/2021, when Messi defended Barcelona – today the Argentine is a colleague of the Frenchman at Paris Saint-Germain.

In the first leg, at Camp Nou, Messi opened the scoring, with a penalty kick, but PSG turned and thrashed 4-1, with three goals from Mbappé, the number 7 shirt.

In the return game, at Parque dos Príncipes, also behind closed doors due to the Covid pandemic, Mbappé scored a penalty and Messi scored a great goal with a powerful long-distance shot. Afterwards, however, the Argentine missed a penalty, saved by goalkeeper Navas. The 1-1 ranked PSG and eliminated Barça.

In the final of the Qatari Cup, Mbappé will try to expand his positive record against the seven-time Ballon d’Or, who to be world champion for the first time – the Frenchman has already won in 2018– will have to overcome this writing.
