Aston Villa coach Unai Emery said he will talk to Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, an athlete at the club, about his behavior during Argentina’s celebration after winning the World Cup in Qatar. He also congratulated the player on his performance during the tournament.

“When you’re emotional, it’s hard to control yourself. I’ll talk to him next week about some of his ways of celebrating,” said the coach during a press conference this Friday (23).

After the final against France, Martínez received the award for the best goalkeeper of the championship and made an obscene gesture, placing the trophy next to his penis. Later, in Buenos Aires, he carried a doll with Mbappé’s face during the champions’ parade in an open bus around the city.

“I respect him. He was in your national team. Afterwards he will be with us and under our responsibility. We can talk about it [a atitude]”, completed the Spanish coach.

Aston Villa, 12th in the Premier League, faces Liverpool in the traditional Boxing Day round (December 26th), at 2:30 pm.

The president of the French Football Federation, Noël Le Graet, wrote a letter to the president of the AFA (Argentine Football Association), Claudio Tapia, after the provocations of the Argentine players, especially against Kylian Mbappé, in the celebrations after the World Cup final .

The information is from the Ouest-France newspaper.

“I wrote a letter to my counterpart from the Argentine federation. I see these excesses in a sports competition as abnormal and I cannot understand them. They went too far. Mbappé’s behavior was exemplary”, said Le Graet in an interview with the website.
