In which positions of the world ranking will the Greek table tennis internationals close in 2022

The IFTT announced on Tuesday the tables of the 52nd week, which are also the last for 2022. It is therefore an opportunity to see in which positions the Greek table tennis players end the year, who tried, for their part, for the better in terms of points in a system that does not leave much room for “jumps”.

First on the world ranking list, from the Greek side, they were, of course, throughout 2022 and they remain Panagiotis Gionis in men and Katerina Toliou in women. Essentially, not long ago Gionis returned to the top 100 in the world. There are also Greek internationals in the ranks of the small age categories (except for the Under 11) and soon others are expected to enter thanks to their participation in WTT Youth Contender.

In the men’s table, Panagiotis Gionis ends the year at number 83. He is followed by Yiannis Sgouropoulos at No. 209 and the first Greek trio is closed by Giorgos Stamatouros at No. 485.

Giorgos Konstantinopoulos is at No. 525, while Kallinikos Kreanga is at No. 554 after his recent participation in the US WTT Feeder. Konstantinos Konstantinopoulos appears this week at No 677 and Tasos Riniotis at No 912.

At the end of the year, the top five men are, in order: Fan Zedong (China), Tomokazu Harimoto (Japan), Ma Long (China), Wang Chuqin (China) and Truls Meregaard (Sweden).

In the women’s table, Katerina Toliou is in the last week at number 185 with an increase of one place. Next are Elisavet Terpou at No 418 and Malamatenia Papadimitriou at No 490. From here on, Konstantina Paridis is at No 627, Dimitra-Thomais Tsekoura at No 653 and Aliki Kioufi at No 654.

The young Chinese Sun Yingsha is at the top of the ranking. In the top five she is followed by her compatriots Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, Wang Yidi and the Japanese Mima Ito.

Five athletes and three athletes appear from Greece in the evaluation tables of young ages. There is no Greek presence everywhere, while some of the boys move to a higher age category with the arrival of 2023.
