The first title of the season was celebrated by Panathinaikos which prevailed PAOK 3-1 in the Super Cup final held in Heraklion, Crete.
With his statements after the end of the match, the coach of the “greens”, Dimitris Andreopoulos, stood on the good image and the… thirst his players hadwhile he stated that the goal of Panathinaikos is to be close to the titles and the elite.
Dimitris Andeopoulos’ statements in detail:
“It was a very strong and quality game and for that I am doubly happy. On the one hand because they have created a winning streak against a very good team, on the other hand because my players showed great thirst and managed to overcome the difficulties caused by the injuries of the previous days.
The two teams have already played four matches. They know each other well now and there aren’t many surprises. In today’s game, PAOK reversed the two extremes, a fact that troubled us until we found a solution. The sets were decided on their endings and the match on the details.
What we can say is that any fan of Panathinaikos and of volleyball in general who remembers Panathinaikos a few years ago, could not even watch the finals. We want in this phase that we are going through to be close to or in the finals. If we do this, some will be gained, some will be lost. Our goal is to be consistently close to the finals and everything else will come.”
